Berkshire Environmental Action Team (BEAT) is looking to collaborate with local restaurants for our monthly Berkshire Green Drinks social gatherings and hoping to expand our network of local restaurants as regular hosts for events.
Berkshire Green Drinks (formerly Pittsfield Green Drinks) is an informal gathering on the second Wednesday of the month. A guest speaker talks for about 30 minutes beginning at 6 PM, and a discussion and Q&A follow the presentation. Topics range from wildlife tracking, clean energy, local wildlife research, beekeeping, conservation efforts, botany, and more. These nights are free and open to all, and everyone is welcome and encouraged to join and bring along questions!
Before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, our monthly Green Drinks events took place exclusively at a restaurant or pub in Pittsfield. At the beginning of 2023, BEAT began changing the location of our in-person gatherings every month to different towns throughout Berkshire County. Additionally, we started offering Berkshire Green Drinks as a monthly hybrid event, holding in-person gatherings with the speaker and a virtual Zoom meeting where online participants can have their questions answered.
The gathering typically begins around 5:15 PM for folks to socialize, order food, and get drinks. We don't require in-person attendees to RSVP, though we do ask them to so we have a rough idea of how many will be there. We typically get 20-30 attendees joining us in person, with more attending via Zoom.
Because we live-stream the presentation, we need a secluded area to host from. This doesn't have to be a closed-off room, but somewhere we wouldn't pick up on background noise such as loud music, heavy conversation, or kitchen noise. We bring our own equipment (i.e., portable screen, projector, lapel mics, etc.) and try to get there around 5 PM to start setting up.
Since these events are free to the public and cost us money to produce, we can't pay for venue space. However, we historically get a great turnout, folks come early and stay after, and our attendees like to go back to restaurants they feel good about supporting. Please fill out the questionnaire below if you'd like to collaborate with BEAT on our monthly Berkshire Green Drinks events.
