SIFF Education invites young film lovers to participate in our Films4Families Jury during the 2021 virtual Seattle International Film Festival.
What is a film jury?
At film festivals around the world, a selection of accomplished filmmakers and other film professionals are selected to watch a series of films and award one as the best film in the program. At the 2021 virtual Seattle International Film Festival, seven youth from Western Washington will be selected to award the Youth Jury Award for Best Films4Families Feature.
Jury Requirements and Benefits:
* The Films4Families Jury is reserved for students between the ages of 8-12. Films from other countries may have subtitles. (Older students may apply for the FutureWave Jury)
* Applicants must live within the Western Washington area.
* Free admission for each juror household to see all four Films4Families features at SIFF 2021 (April 8-18). All films will be available virtually through SIFF. The Festival is in mid-April but we anticipate there may be opportunity to provide viewing for jurors before the Festival dates.
* Once the jurors have been confirmed and we have verified when film viewing will be available we will finalize a date/time for Jury deliberations where the jurors will discuss and decide on which film they will award. In addition we will plan a time for a virtual Jury Orientation/Expectations in advance of the film viewing time period.
* Representatives from the jury may be invited to present the winner at the Golden Space Needle Awards Presentation scheduled for early evening on Sunday, April 18.
* Free yearlong SIFF membership.
o Discounted tickets at SIFF Cinema and the Festival
o Early bird discounts on Festival tickets and passes
o Invitations to complimentary film preview screenings
To Apply:
Jury members will be expected to view via online link all four feature films in the Films4Families program at SIFF 2021 and the SIFF jury deliberations by the close of the Festival. Please double check your calendar that the Festival time period (April 8-18 and the weeks beforehand) appears free enough to view four fabulous films at home, complete this Google Form application, and submit it by 11:59pm on Friday, March 5. Applications received after this date will not be considered.
Notification:
Applicants will be notified of the SIFF selection committee's decisions by Monday, March 15. If selected for the Films4Families Jury, parents will be sent a confirmation form to digitally sign. While the F4F jury is shown age appropriate films, SIFF must inform parents that many movies are unrated by the MPAA. Titles and descriptions will be shared at the jury orientation and any
reservations based on content of films may be discussed.
