Catholic-inspired initiatives have been an important source of support for migrants in Asia, a region marked by significant and diverse mobilities. Across origin, transit and destination countries and territories in the region, the concerns and needs of people on the move became the seeds for the development of programs and services to accompany, support and empower migrants.
The forum, Walking with migrants: Catholic sisters in the migrant ministry in Asia, focuses on the multi-faceted roles of Catholic sisters and the programs they have initiated or supported in the pastoral care of migrants in the region. The Migrant Ministry by Catholic Sisters in Asia Report, co-produced by the Scalabrini Migration Center and the Sisters and released by the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development in 2024, will serve as a reflection point in discussing the contributions of sisters in the migrant ministry and the mission of the Catholic Church.
With the contributions of:
- Cardinal Fabio Baggio, C.S. Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development.
- Sister Nathalie Becquart, X.M.C.J. Synod of Bishops.
- Sister Jane Wakahiu, L.S.S.O.F. Conrad N. Hilton Foundation.
