“Not all stories of adoption are stories of pain and regret. Not even most of them. Why don’t we ever get that movie?”
Let's face it: families are complicated. I wrote Family Family to have more conversations about adoption and adoptive families and to show off the joy and love we often don't hear enough about amidst all that complication. So I'd love to hear your complicated adoption stories too, however ordinary or extraordinary, happy, sad, both, or otherwise. Adoptees, birth parents, adoptive parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, everyone—I'd love to hear whatever parts of your adoption stories you want to share and continue the conversation about all different kinds of families.
If you want, if you don't mind, I may share parts of some of these stories anonymously* on my website, on social media, on book tour. I wish I could meet you all in person, but in the meantime, I'd be honored to have you with me in spirit in this way. So thank you!
*Of course I won't share anything even anonymously without your permission; if you'd prefer your story not be shared with anyone but me, just indicate below.
