The HUCM Food Bank was founded by advocates in the HUCM community to address food insecurity here at Howard University College of Medicine. Food insecurity — the lack of nutritious food — has become a significant issue for college students across the country. The Howard University College of Medicine community is committed to supporting students as they manage rising living costs and financial challenges while simultaneously striving to complete their studies.
What is the HUCM Food Bank?-This is a "virtual" food bank meant to provide financial assistance to students who are struggling to afford nutritious food.
Who Can Apply?- The program is available to eligible students with financial need, who have exhausted all other funding options, including student loans (if applicable).
If you are not truely in need, please consider your colleagues, and do not apply.- Students must be currently enrolled in the Howard University College of Medicine.
- LIMIT, until we receive more grocery cards: One grocery card, or Two Sodexo cards per month. What is the application process?-Complete this application form. Once it is processed, applicants will be contacted by HUCM Food Bank (
hucmfoodbank@gmail.com) to coordinate distribution. Please note at this time you may receive a grocery store card, or a Sodexo Card- for use at any HU Sodexo location.
