2019-2020 Parent-Teacher-Compact
The purpose of the Home-School Compact is to outline how students, parents, and teachers share responsibility for improving student achievement.  It is part of our effort to create a partnership for learning, and by working together we can achieve our goals.

The following are agreed upon responsibilities that we, as partners, will carry out to support student success in school and in life.

I understand that education is important.  I am responsible for my own success.  As a student, I will: • Cooperate with my family to get to school on time every day, ready to learn and work hard. • Follow school and classroom rules. • Ask for help when I need it. • Perform my daily classroom tasks to the best of my ability. • Practice reading every book or assignment that is sent home, and return it to school the next day. • Get the accountability note, or assignment, signed by an adult at home and return it to school the next day. • Do any additional homework assignments on a daily basis. • Communicate regularly with my family about school experiences. • Respect the school, classmates, staff, and families.

Maintain communication with the school (attend conferences, respond to notes, check my child’s backpack, etc.) and keep the teacher informed about any concerns, or situations which may influence my child’s learning.  • Send my child to school on time and ready to learn every day (appropriately fed and rested). • Communicate the importance of education and learning to my child. • Establish high expectations, set realistic goals, and celebrate my child’s successes. • Review appropriate behavioral expectations and support the implementation of classroom and school rules. • Provide a supportive home environment.  Talk about school, help with organizational skills, help with homework (if needed), and provide a consistent, quiet time and place for homework. • Listen to my child read each day, and sign the accountability note or assignment. • Respect the school, staff, students, and families.

I understand the importance of a quality education for each student.  As a teacher, I will: • Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction • Provide a safe, positive, and healthy learning environment for each child. • Set clear expectations for student behavior. • Provide an intensive literacy lesson, four or five times per week, in a small group setting. • Provide research-based instruction in accordance with California’s Standards. • Select appropriate instructional materials and strategies to meet the needs of each child based on ongoing assessments. • Provide motivational incentives and rewards to students for their efforts and accomplishments. • Provide each child with daily reading homework. • Establish an open line of communication with parents through timely feedback regarding their child’s progress, and notify parents of any problems or specific concerns. • Participate in professional development opportunities that will continue to improve my teaching. • Respect the school, students, staff, and families.
