This form is for landowners who are interested in learning more about hosting visitors to their landscape thru the West Michigan OpenYards program (WMOY), launched in 2024. All data provided is kept confidential
and nothing will be published anywhere without your express permission.
At WMOY, we know the power of on-site mentoring discussions, and our mission is to
directly connect you with others equally interested in improving their own landscape
for wildlife.
Should you choose to participate in Open Yards, we will work with you to create a listing on the website for your landscape. Web visitors will peruse your listing along with those of other landscapes each with its own unique features. Interested visitors will register for a specific time slot for each landscape based on each landowner's unique schedule of availability (as chosen by each of you in
advance of your listing going live).
Registrants will pay a small fee to cover program costs and help support Kent
Conservation programs. The registration confirmation email will provide the site address – the only place it will be available.
If this all sounds very exciting, and you want us to reach
out to you directly to schedule a site visit to discuss the program further,
please complete the survey below.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the very serious risks of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (also known as "bird flu"), the Kent Conservation District has suspended all visits to Open Yards landscapes that include dairy or poultry operations of any size, including backyard / non-farm flocks. Should you maintain any poultry or dairy animals on your property, you are not eligible to participate in the program at this time. Please do not complete this form.
This decision is in accordance with strict guidelines set by the USDA and the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. We sincerely hope this is temporary and will update this form and the Open Yards website as circumstances change.
