Call on Labour: Give practical support to the Palestinians
We, Labour Party members and members of affiliated trade unions, call on the Labour government to take practical action for its stated policy for an immediate ceasefire and for a democratic two-states settlement in Palestine-Israel.

The party manifesto rightly stated that “statehood is the inalienable right of the Palestinian people” and called for a viable and sovereign Palestinian state alongside Israel.

We call on the Labour government to:

1. Drop the bid launched by the Sunak government to block the International Criminal Court from deciding on issuing arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant for war crimes in Gaza (the deadline for the UK government to decide is 26 July)

2. Suspend licences for UK military exports to Israel, as proposed by David Lammy as shadow foreign secretary on 3 April

3. Restore UK funding to the UNRWA aid agency, as suggested by the UK representative to the UN on 12 July

4. Do as Spain, Ireland and Norway and many others have done, and immediately recognise Palestine as an independent state.

We call on the whole UK labour movement to build active solidarity with the Palestinians, with workers’ and left movements in Palestine and Israel, and with Israel’s internationalist opposition, including the Palestinian-Jewish anti-war and social justice movement Standing Together.
