Staff members of the Hospital Response Team are required to attend one staff meeting a month. This meeting takes place on the first Tuesday of every month from 6:30PM-8:00PM. We recognize that occasionally life commitments will arise preventing perfect attendance but for the most part we ask for a deliberate effort and commitment to attending monthly meetings.
The pay rates on the Hospital Response Team vary based on whether you're on-call your entire shift or if you respond to a "code-r" (forensic exam) at the hospital. The pay rates are as follows: $2.50/hour on-call, $12.60/hour for any administrative tasks, $18.00/hours when called out to provide advocacy services at the hospital. Based on the three different pay rates it is difficult to predict a steady income. For this reason we advise our HRT staff members to not rely on this job as a sole source of income.
Lastly, the Hospital Response Team is an entry level position and is ideal for those interested in developing their advocacy skills. The Rape Recovery Center operates and delivers client centered advocacy from a Feminist Multicultural Theory perspective. That being said, it is likely that you will be challenged to speak candidly about racism, ableism, sexism, classism, heterosexism, etc. The Rape Recovery Center recognizes that a constant reflection of biases is imperative to delivering client centered advocacy. Working for the Rape Recovery Center means working in an environment where we recognize that multiculturalism is a journey not a destination and requires consistent work both professionally and personally.
