The Andover School Committee recently authorized Andover Information Technology to expand its device rental program to all families in grades 6-12. Currently we are providing the option for middle school families to rent Chromebook style devices. We are considering expanding the program to include both high school students and to include additional devices such as Windows computers. The goal behind the rental program is to provide an economical "no hassle" alternative to buying a device for your student. This is a very brief, 3 question survey to determine the interest level in such a program.

If there is sufficient interest we would likely offer two devices to high school students:

Chromebook - This device is an HP Chromebook 11 x360 EE G3. It is the standard device used by students in G2-8. The annual rental fee is $130. You will receive a new device. Your student may take the device home for weekends, vacation and summers. The device is managed by Andover IT and is limited to school approved applications during school hours. During off hours your student is free to utilize whatever applications they choose. If the device fails, Andover IT will repair the device at no cost and provide a "loaner" as needed. The annual fee provides limited protection against accidental damage and loss as well.

Windows - This device will be a mid range HP Windows laptop with at least the equivalent of an Intel I5 processor, 8GB memory, 128GB of storage. The annual rental fee will be between $200 and $250. You will receive a new device. Exact specifications will be determined based on the response to this survey. Your student may take the device home for weekends, vacation and summers. Your student may use the device for both school and personal use. If the device fails, Andover IT will repair the device at no cost and provide a "loaner" as needed. The annual fee provides limited protection against accidental damage and loss as well.
