8/66 - Tower of Dawn (Maas) Book Review: Does this book passage contain sensitive materials?

READ FREELY CAMPAIGN: https://tinyurl.com/readfreelyut

We are requesting that the Utah State Board of Education help alleviate the burden experienced by school districts and parents across Utah by monthly sharing with Utah public and charter schools, a list of books that have been found by Utah school districts to contain sensitive materials. To do this, we are sharing violations, one book at a time so as not to overwhelm, to acquaint USBE elected board members with the thorough and diligent work of the districts as well as the specific violations that law outlines.

Utah code 76-10-1227 2)(c) states that there IS NO SERIOUS VALUE FOR MINORS if it meets the criteria of 76-10-1227 (1)(a)(i, ii, iii) which states that a description or depiction of the following is not allowed anywhere on school grounds:

  • Human genitals in a state of sexual stimulation or arousal

  • Acts of human masturbation, sexual intercourse, or sodomy;

  • Fondling or other erotic touching of human genitals or pubic region

We only give short excerpts.  Access to the full reports can be found by clicking on the book covers on this page: https://www.ratedbooks.org/ratifyremovals

Responders will get an automatic copy of their responses emailed to them for their own records.  Responses are not shown publicly.
