Title: 2021-2022 FAFSA
Description: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first step toward federal, state and institutional financial aid. The 2021-2022 FAFSA opens beginning October 1st, 2020. Need help or have questions? UAA Financial Aid staff will be available for FAFSA assistance during this Compass Workshop. We will begin with a brief overview of the FAFSA and federal aid, and then be available to help you complete your own FAFSA and answer any questions you may have. The FAFSA is always based on your tax information from two years prior, so bring your 2019 tax information if you would like to start your FAFSA during the event.

Title: UAA Scholarship Applications
Description: The University of Alaska Scholarship Application is open every year, Oct. 1-Feb. 15.
Did you know that students received over $1 MILLION in UAA scholarships last year? In order to receive a scholarship, continuing students must submit an application between Oct. 1 and Feb. 15 each year. During this workshop, UAA Office of Financial Aid staff will provide a guided overview of the University of Alaska Scholarship Portal. The overview will demonstrate how to navigate the application, provide tips on writing effective scholarship essays, and identify ways to increase your chances of receiving an award. Have your UAOnline login credentials ready if you'd like to begin your application during the workshop.

Title: Satisfactory Academic Progress
Description: How well you do in your classes can affect your eligibility for financial aid in future semesters. This requirement is called Satisfactory Academic Progress or SAP. In this workshop, UAA Office of Financial Aid staff will be discussing how to calculate your SAP status, how to remain in good SAP standing, and how to file a SAP appeal.
