Professional Educators and Managers Ireland (PEMI) is a voluntary professional body for the Early Childhood and School Age profession. It focuses solely upon promoting and supporting professional standards and professional practice among those working with children within Early Childhood and School Age in Ireland.

PEMI is of and for the Early Childhood and School Age profession. It is not a union, nor is it a provider representative organization. The body focusses upon professional standards and professional practice, and therefore, membership is open to those who hold a qualification in Early Childhood/School Age from Level 5 through to Level 8+, and those studying for a qualification. Membership of this professional body means working to hold ourselves accountable for our words and actions in relation to our work with children, families and other stakeholders both in professional practice and on social media platforms.

Why Become a Member of PEMI?

  • As a PEMI member you will receive a unique membership number and certificate which is non-transferrable and will be associated with your membership and professional status.
  • Being a member will provide recognition of your standing as an Early Childhood and/or School Age professional.
  • Being a member will demonstrate your commitment to the best practice and ethical standards required by the profession body.

  • Being a member will provide professional networking opportunities. Meet and network with professional peers at virtual and in-person PEMI events, workshops, conferences and briefings.
  • Strategic consultation. Being a member provides opportunities for you to inform the critical work of PEMI. Your opinion will be actively sought, listened to, and acted upon, in relation to policy review, new initiatives etc.
  • Advocacy. PEMI is the only body in Ireland, focussed solely on professional practice standards. PEMI will advocate rigorously for your professional status, recognition and the status of the Early Childhood and School Age Profession.
  • Being a member gives you exclusive access to PEMI quarterly News Bulletin.
