Starting and Growing a Business
Join us as Speaker Bradley Kaplan discusses his experiences with starting and growing a business from the ground up.  The topics will include how the initial idea came to be (hint: it was a trip to Mom’s house for Thanksgiving 2018), how the brand was developed over time, building scalable operations, people development, shaping culture, and much more.  Bradley will also touch on how his business has affected his personal life and how his outlook on life has changed over time.  Bradley’s style is very interactive, he describes his style as conversational as opposed to lecture oriented.  He welcomes and encourages his audience to engage with him directly and ask questions.  He likes to say no 2 presentations are the same as he does not plan out any answers or use notecards.  He answers questions authentically with what he is thinking in that moment, which he feels gives the most sincere answer.

SPEAKER INFORMATION:  Born and raised in Cleveland, OH, Bradley graduated from OSU in 2014 with an undergrad in Civil Engineering and a minor in Spanish.  After spending the first 3 years of his career working in Cleveland, he moved back to Columbus to take night classes at OSU for an MBA.  Balancing a full-time job and classes, Bradley started working on the idea of Lion Cub’s Cookies (LCC) in early 2019.  Days before graduating at the top of his class in Business School, Bradley sold his first cookie at a pop-up at the North Market in Downtown Columbus in December 2019.  Fast forward to March 2020, after just 6 pop-ups at the North Market the pandemic began.  Bradley quickly pivoted and within a month developed a proprietary delivery-only model.  Delivery took off and Bradley quit his job in May 2020 to focus on growing his business.  Bradley opened his first retail bakery in June 2021 and has seen steady growth in all aspects of the business, reaching average weekly volumes of ~8,000 cookies per week out of a 1,000 square foot storefront.  Bradley has plans for regional expansion over the next 3-5 years with national expansion as the long-term goal.
