Did you know… The United States is number one in the world for women entrepreneurs with women owned businesses now representing 36% of all business up from 30% in 2007. Since 2012, women owned businesses have generated $1.4 trillion in receipts alone. On a state level, Pittsburgh has fared well. It was recently listed as #23 of 50 on the Dell Women Entrepreneur City Index as a place that supports high potential women entrepreneurs. However, where do women of color; in particular black women fall on that scale?
According to the 2015 State of Women-Owned Businesses report, 30% of all businesses in the United States are women owned with African American women making up 14%.
So let's dive deeper into this growing entrepreneurial movement and find ways to support the momentum of local black, women entrepreneurs.
