Ethical commitment competence
This tool is a European project titled "Building up Chinese Teachers' Key Competences through a Global Competence-Based Framework". This project is co-funded by the European Commission. This questionnaire is anonymous and you will need 5 minutes to answer it. You will be re-addressed to a rubric after answering the questionnaire so as to know your current competence level. The results could be used for research purposes, but the anonymity will be always guaranteed since the data will be analysed globally. You accept that your results can be used to this end by answering this questionnaire.

With regard to expectations and students’ supports, I believe that my current competence level is:
I ask and identify students’ needs to make decisions (in terms of classroom management, family reports, type of activities…) and act.
I know that it is very important to have high expectations for students.
I have high expectations for all my students and, consequently, I adjust my practice to students’ general needs.
My teaching practice is independent from the students I am teaching and their needs.
With regard to the coherence between the teaching practice and the ethical values of my country and the school, I consider that my current competence level is:
I am aware of the importance of accomplishing some professional standards of the Ethical code and the Standard practices (e.g. in terms of attendance, honest behaviour…).
I align my practice with my ethics and the ethical declaration of the Standard Ethical code (e.g. in terms of attendance, honest behaviour…).
My practices are always coherent with the Ethical code and the Standard educational practices of my country/region where I live/work, and I model the professional standards.

I understand the policies that regulate the confidential use of my students’ data.
I keep the confidentiality of my students.

With regard to the policies that impact on the educational system, I consider that my current competence level is:
I know the policies that regulate education, in which I base my own ethical code.
I use and check resources and values to solve ethical problems that are present in my practice.
I articulate my personal code of ethics informed by ethical codes of the system in a systematic way.
I describe relevant ethical statements and relevant professional associations.
With regard to being self-reflective and self-critical about ethical and professional aspects, I think that my current competence level is:
I identify the ethical problems of my daily practice and I work with mentors to identify some means to critique institutional actions.
I identify ethical problems in my daily practice and I use some systematic procedures to make ethical decisions.
I reflect and self-assess my ethical and professional problems in my daily practice. I implement a systematic and personal procedure to make ethical decisions.
I am able to explain how the own behaviour reflects the professional ethics.
