Please fill out a separate registration form for each program for which you are registering. All programs are held on Thursday mornings beginning at 10:30 unless otherwise indicated. All programs are free. Programs vary in length, so please note the time programs are to finish.

Registration for some of these programs is limited.

Please note which room your child’s program/activity is being held in. Note: Children pre-school age to 7 must be accompanied by an adult/responsible party.

PuppeTree's Swimmy
Thursday June 22nd, 6:30-7:15 pm ages 4+

General Audience Family event/ bring a dinner picnic CR

Retelling of Leo Lionni’s Classic children’s Book Swimmy. It’s a fully authorized multi-media production blending shadow puppets, animation and projections. This will be followed by an original work Swimmer, inspired by Lionni’s. Swimmer is set in the Vermont landscape along a beautiful river. A tale of a young girl who wishes to preserve the river’s beauty and engages her neighbors to also be better stewards.

Back Pack Theater: Peter Pan
Thursday June 29, 10:30am ages 5+

General Audience CR

This Children’s theater troupe is from Rutland, Vermont. This year’s play will be Peter Pan. And while Nana the dog is on duty in the nursery they will also fold into the play the story of The Three Bears. Caution! The porridge is too hot!

Teens Teaching Youth (TRY) Program: All about Forests & Trees
July 3, 5, 6, 7, (1-2pm) and July, 8th (12-2pm) . ages 8-10

Limited to 15 participants. OCR

*Pre- registration is necessary. *Course is dependent on full slate of enrollment.
This is a 5 session workshop sponsored by 4H, UVM Extension Service in partnership with Plant, Live, Grow: Vermont Urban and Community Forest Program, and Forests, Park and Recreation: Vermont Agency of Natural Resources. Each session is one hour in length, with the exception of the final session on 7/8 which is 2 hours.
This class is geared for students 8-10 and will investigate the functions of trees, life stages, main parts of the tree and how to be a tree steward. If your child is a budding naturalist or outdoor enthusiast, then this set of workshops will enhance their current body of knowledge as well as encourage them to seek more information on the environment and habitat of the forest. All lessons are hands-on, engaging and fun. Please bring a beverage and a snack.

“Your Screws are loose!”
Thursday July 6th, 10:30 ages 8-12

*Pre-registration required/ Limited space. OCR

MUST Bring your screw drivers, socket wrenches, pliers, clamps… let’s take it apart and get to the heart of it. We will be dismantling all sorts of small appliances. BRING TOOLS. Have your last name written on them or colored tape on the handles so you get them back after our session. BRING: TOOLS and SAFETY GOGGLES!
This program may run 2 hours depending on number of appliances we have to play with.

Serenity Circles: Hula hooping and Bubbles!!!
Thursday July 13, 10:30 ages 5+

*Pre-registration required. CR or outside if weather is nice

Does it get any better than Curious George? We will start out with reading Curious George Visits the Toy Store then explore and play with hula hoops, see what we can do with them like George. Creative movement and fun with ensue! After hoops and games we shall explore bubbles, with experiments, oodles of curiosity and delight! We may get a bit goopy!

Midsummer Night’s Dream / Hour-Glass Youth Theatre
Thursday July 13th, 6:30 -8pm ages 5+

*Pre-registration required. Space to be determined.

Middle School and High School age actors will be directed by Lauren Palmer. Join us in introducing Shakespeare to the family. Pack a picnic dinner and be prepared to feed your imagination.

Ashley Hensel-Browning Dancer/ Choreographer
Thursday July 20th, 10:30 ages 9-13

*Pre-registration required/ Limited space. CR or outside if it’s nice.

Ashely celebrates movement that fuses literary topics and dance. Back by popular demand, she will have us up and moving~ motivated! We will warm up, play movement games, and enjoy collaborative experiences. Teens loved her last summer. Dress appropriately for freedom and comfort of movement. Bring a water bottle!

Creative Bookmaking Workshop
Thursday July 27th, 1-2:30 ages 8-10

Presenter Deb Chamberlin will be instructing children in the art of book making. Children will create several books for themselves to be used as journal, sketching books, or to write the next great American novel!! Bring a beverage and a snack!

From Trash to Tunes with Dennis Waring
Friday August 4th, 6:30- 7:30pm ALL AGES

*Pre-registration required~ Family picnic night! CR

Trash to Tunes performance will highlight handmade and homemade musical instruments built from recyclables inspired from instruments around the world. Interesting sights, sounds, and stories about instruments give audiences new insight into folklore, music, craft, science and world view. This program will appeal to the child in all of us.

802 Reptiles
Thursday August 10th, 10:30-11:30 ALL AGES

General Audience CR

Who doesn’t like snakes? Kevin Clarkson creates a fun environment for everyone from the reptile enthusiast, to someone who has never seen a reptile in person. Their goal is your enjoyment with their animals and a memory you will never forget. Do come to see beautiful creatures up close. We encourage your curiosity and hope to foster the respect that all reptiles deserve.
