About the Mentoring Role
1) We ask mentors to maintain first contact with mentees at least 2 weeks after being assigned a mentee whether by email/phone but preferably phone.2) We ask mentors to attend the Career Mentoring Open Day in February every year in Abuja, Nigeria where mentors will interact one-on-one with the student mentees, their parent/guardians and teachers. 3) Mentors will be sent a mentoring starter guide including child protection rules, mentoring objectives, the communication procedure and all other questions about the mentoring process.4) Thementor will be notified by email of his/her mentees details and contact information through a 'Candidate Form'.5) The Mentors details subject to signed release forms will be shared with the parents/guardians to ensure a smooth mentoring process.6) We ask mentors to give a summary report by email on discussions had with the mentee and support offered to mentee every 3 months to determine the impact of the mentoring relationship and re-assess the relationship if necessary for any changes.7) This is a volunteer role. 8)There is no minimum commitment but we ask for at least a 1 year relationship, subject to no further need for assessment of the relationship.
