Office of Communications Director Internship 2019-2020
The Office of Communications (OComm) is looking for a Communications Intern! The intern will work directly with the Communications Director who oversees the OComm and sits on the Board of Directors. The ideal candidate will, through this internship, gain hands-on experience in carrying out a marketing campaign, developing marketing strategies for entities while gaining exposure to the rest of ASUW, running social media accounts for the ASUW, and more.
Coordinate social media updates for ASUW (Instagram and Facebook) through special projects and features, brainstorming new ways to engage with the student body
Participate in planning and executing the newly launching ASUW Brand Awareness Campaign and other ASUW public affairs
The ASUW Brand Awareness Campaign is an effort to solidify the new outlook (logo, brand, etc.) that ASUW launched in Spring of 2018. This year, we are hoping to create a campaign with a series of participatory events that allow students to truly experience what ASUW is like, and why it exists to serve the student body at the UW.
Work with Communications Director to analyze OComm operations and ensure brand consistency within the association
Attend the following meetings with the Communications Director:
Marketing strategy meetings with entities
OComm quarterly meetings
Intern monthly one-on-one’s
Provide insight and feedback when necessary and assist other employees within the OComm as seen fit
Interest in any of the following fields: marketing, communications, public relations
Ability to commit 3-5 hours a week throughout the 2019-2020 academic year
Ability to self direct and work independently, and with a team
Excellent verbal and written communication
Experience working with social media account(s) preferred but not required
Any of the following skills/experience preferred but not required: photography, videography, web design, journalism (please attach portfolio or sample if available on the Google Form Application)
Must be a UW student enrolled in at least 6 credits or on leave as defined by
Executive Order 50.
