Quick blurb because why not?:
I'm one of those people that has known what I have wanted to do ever since my brain started working—music and the arts! I teach music so I can share my love (and the helpful skills) for music making with the world.
I have a degree from Northwestern University in Music Education with a focus on classical voice/choral music. After graduating from Northwestern in 2009, I became a founding faculty member at the Chicago High School for the Arts, Chicago’s premier public high school for music and the arts. I served as the Vocal Chair and developed curriculum for a variety of courses: music theory, keyboard skills, vocal technique, choir, integrated arts, and music technology. I also oversaw the development and implementation of anti-racist and trauma-informed curriculum at ChiArts, and built relationships with various organizations in order to provide opportunities for students, including music conservatories and universities around the world. I am so proud of all of my students! They have won competitions, earned prestigious awards and degrees, traveled the world performing music, signed to major labels, become teachers, actors, and counselors, and they have all simply continued to love music as wonderful human beings!
I have been teaching private lessons for over a decade and am a part of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).
But wait a second, what about TALsounds and synths?
I started playing a keyboard as a child for the sake of having a portable piano at my dad's house. I was a big nerd, and I was stoked by the prospect of getting to use my classical piano skills with weird electronic sounds. I started playing real synths in college, and the microKorg was my first synth.
In 2019, alongside my teaching and performing career, I started doing contract work as a Synth Host for the online musical instrument marketplace, Reverb.
In 2021 I was hired by Korg USA and am currently their Product Manager for Synthesizers.
I am still an active musician and release and perform solo music as TALsounds, and when given the opportunity, I like to score films.
