Thank you for your interest in the Urban Wood Academy. The Urban Wood Academy is a multi-day, interactive, experiential workshop designed to share best practices and lessons learned around building networked, regional wood economies that support the US wood industry. The Academy will involve a combination of classroom, field, and dialogue-based learning; it will draw expertise from those who have developed and are scaling a successful urban wood economy in Baltimore, as well from the participants, who will each bring their own experiences and perspectives.
The Academy is capped at 15-18 participants, as we have found that this group size maximizes interactivity and value for all participants. We also seek to curate geographic, organizational, experiential, and many other kinds of diversity. We will accept applications from individuals or small teams (2-5 people) from a single location. Applications are due by June 28 but will be accepted after if space permits. Selected individuals and/or teams that applied by the June deadline will be notified by mid-July. Priority will be given to those teams that reflect a multi-sectoral approach/partnership, as well as individuals who are well-positioned to advance urban wood utilization in new locations or with new and diverse groups of individuals.
If selected, the registration fee for the Urban Wood Academy is $250, which covers the cost of the venue, breakfast and lunch during the Academy, and transportation to all field sites. Transportation to/from Baltimore and lodging during your stay are not covered by this registration fee, and it is the responsibility of participants to independently arrange and pay for these expenses. Limited scholarship assistance may be available to subsidize or fully cover transportation and lodging costs. Please indicate on the application below if you are interested in a full or partial scholarship to cover transportation and lodging costs. Please note: the scholarship does not cover the registration fee, which remains the responsibility of the attendee(s). Please email
