For decades, the federal safety net has categorically excluded many of our neighbors from receiving basic needs assistance solely based on their immigration status. While Oregon has in recent years made important strides to expand access to healthcare, improve public safety, and other basic rights for immigrant & refugee Oregonians, the state has not expanded access to food assistance programs.
The Food For All Oregonians Campaign envisions an Oregon where all people have access to food no matter where they were born or what their immigration status may be. We aim to realize this vision by passing legislation in 2023 that creates a state-funded, community-designed program to ensure food assistance and security for ALL Oregonians regardless of where they were born.
