TCADP Webinar Series: Seeking Justice in Texas
Tuesday, March 9, 2021, 1:00 to 2:00 PM Central Time: Challenges and Controversies Surrounding Lethal Injection

In this session, our expert speakers will focus on lethal injection, including the status of litigation challenges and ethical and regulatory issues surrounding the source of drugs used currently in executions. Our presenters are Maurie Levin, a capital defense attorney, and Heidi Bragg, a professor of pharmacy and regulatory compliance expert.
Heidi Bragg is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and a registered pharmacist in Texas and Florida.
As a pharmacist, Heidi worked in a variety of practice settings. Notably, she was a Compliance Officer for the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, an Assistant Clinical Professor at UH College of Pharmacy, and the Director of Regulatory Management for Cardinal Health. Heidi is currently a Drug Diversion Specialist at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston.
Maurie Levin has represented death-sentenced inmates in state and federal courts for more than 25 years. From 2004 to 2013 she co-directed the Capital Punishment Clinic at The University of Texas School of Law. She currently represents condemned inmates in Texas, is one of the Texas Regional Habeas Assistance Counsel, and as an attorney with the Mexican Capital Legal Assistance Program, is counsel to the Government of Mexico in the cases of Mexican nationals facing the death penalty in the United States.
