With the recent legalization of gay marriage in the United States and the very public lives of trans celebrities, "Post-Gay?" is an invitation to LGBTQIA artists in and around Boston to respond to this increased visibility and consider ways they are investigating, celebrating or criticizing these changes. "Post-Gay?" considers the consequences of assimilation and progress. Where does growing mainstream acceptance leave more marginalized queer identities, and how do the myriad of LGBTQIA identities conceptualize themselves in the face of shifting cultural opinion? Concurrently, how do we respond to the hate and violence against the LGBTQIA community taking place alongside this moment? Works to be considered for participation in BLAA"s "Post-Gay?" show must touch upon these ideas and themes. Artists in all mediums, from painting to performance, are encouraged to submit.
