Please complete the application to add your child's name to the Jessie Thackrey Preschool Tuition Peer Lottery and/or Virginia Preschool Initiative lists for the 2026-27 school year. 

The Tuition Peer Lottery and Virginia Preschool Initiative Enrollment are for Falls Church City residents only.

TIMELINES:

Application Window: Monday, November 24th, 2025-Friday, Jan. 16, 2026 

Tuition Peer Lottery and VPI Selection: Tuesday, January 20th, 2026
Spots Offered (1st round): Friday, January 23rd, 2026
Deadline to Accept a Spot(1st round): Friday, February 6th, 2026

Families will have two weeks to accept the first round of offers. After the first round, families have 1 week to accept or decline.

The application link will remain active to continue to generate a waitlist for both tuition paying peers, and families seeking enrollment under the Virginia Preschool Initiative.  If you are completing this form on or after the January 16th, 2026 deadline, lottery spots are selected randomly from entries received on or before January 16th, 2026.  Your entry will remain on the waitlist for the 2026-27 school year however a spot for your child is not guaranteed.  

If your child has an Individualized Education Program (IEP) and you are transferring in from another state/school division, please contact the school directly at  571-395-8612.

*If your child will not be 2.5-4 years old by September 30th, 2026, we do not retain your child's name and information for future waitlists.

We are excited to expand our program to include 2.5-year-old tuition-paying peers next year.

Half-Day Eligibility (2.5 Year-Old Peers)

Children with birthdays: October 1, 2023 – March 31, 2024

     ➡️ Eligible to apply for half-day spots only.

Half-Day and Full Day Eligibility

Children with birthdays: June 1, 2023 -September 30th, 2023

     ➡️ Eligible to apply for half-day spot AND/OR full-day spot

Full-Day Eligibility (VPI funded spots are ONLY full day)

Children 3 years old by Sept. 30, 2026 with birthdays Oct. 1, 2022- May 30, 2023
Children 4 years old by Sept. 30, 2026 (birthdays Oct. 1, 2021- Sept. 30th, 2022)

     ➡️ Eligible to apply for full-day spots.

Sibling Priority

The ONLY siblings guaranteed placement for next year are:

  • Children who are age-eligible to attend as peers AND have a sibling returning to Jessie Thackrey in the 26-27 school year.
