Trunk Show: Traditional Arts & Crafts of Ukraine
For this talk & trunk show, David will be showing and explaining various items he has made, including a large traditional storage trunk from which he will be pulling all these things for display and discussion. Included will be examples of the following traditional Ukrainian Arts and Crafts: Embroidery, Applique, Sewing, Paper-Cutting, Wood Carving, Wooden Puppets, Furniture Making, Knotting / Braiding, Beading, and Leather Crafts.

Participants 12 & under accompanied by an adult please.

We are only accepting 20 registrations for this talk.

David Melnychuk
a little about David
Dave is a visual artist and designer working in a variety of media, while also researching the
effects of art, craft, and design on human development. A graduate of the Ontario College of Art
(Communications & Graphic Design), the University of Toronto (Fine Art & Humanities), the
International Academy of Design & Technology (Interior Design), and Humber College (Ontario
Building Code Certification), he recently designed two coins – gold and silver – for the Royal
Canadian Mint, is a jury member for the first Toronto Pysanka Exhibition and Competition, is giving
workshops/lectures and the Keynote Address as featured artist at the Espanola Fibre Arts Festival
2019, and is working on several projects for his second solo exhibition at the Ukrainian Museum of
Canada in Toronto.
