--About Quail Springs:
Quail Springs Permaculture is an educational and land stewardship nonprofit organization dedicated to demonstrating and teaching holistic ways of designing human environments, restoring and revitalizing the land and community, and facilitating deeper understandings of ourselves and one another through immersive experiences in nature.
We believe that lasting ecological health and social harmony can be fostered through emphasizing the connection between people, food, shelter, energy, and water.
WHAT: Quail Springs Permaculture is a 450-acre sustainable living demonstration site and community-supported educational nonprofit serving students of all ages from all over the world through our courses in permaculture design, regenerative farming & land practices, natural building, wild lands tending, and primitive skills.
WHO: We are a dedicated group of teachers, farmers, natural builders, inspired chefs, and land stewards who strive to further our non-profit's mission through working, living, and teaching within the ethics of permaculture, most simply described as earth care, people care, and fair share.
WHERE: Quail Springs is located near the tiny town of Cuyama, CA in the Upper Cuyama Valley in southern California. The elevation is approximately 3,600', and the land is high desert, piñon-juniper woodland. Great Basin Sage, Yerba Santa, rabbit brush, ephedra, and many other high desert species inhabit the valley floor. The ruggedly beautiful Los Padres National Forest surrounds Quail Springs on three sides.
