Please read "Selecting a Candidate" below before proceeding with this application; then fill out the sponsor information completely on the following pages. Your answers to these questions need to be sincere and accurate. Please have the candidate fill out an application and get his pastor’s approval. You may need to help in this process. Please review to ensure that all questions are answered before bringing both the Sponsor and Candidate Information applications to your Ultreya leader.
Make a Friend, Be a Friend, and Bring That Friend to Christ
Sponsorship of a candidate is one of the most important contributions a Cursillista can make to the movement. It is an action that should only be entered into after a thorough and prayerful consideration of all factors. To sponsor, you should be an active member of a group reunion and participating in Ultreya since you are declaring an intention to guide the new Cursillista for one year. The support of your group reunion and Ultreyas is essential. If you are currently inactive, please consider, for the sake of your candidate, having your local Ultreya or an active Cursillista co-sponsor your candidate. Remember, as a sponsor, you should know the applicant well.
About the Candidate:
1. Must be eligible to receive the sacraments.
2. Should not recently have gone through a divorce experience or the death of a loved one.
3. Should be emotionally stable.
4. Couples should be encouraged to apply together.
It is important that the weekend has been fully explained to the candidate with emphasis upon Fourth Day activities. It is also important that the booklet “Cursillo - What Is It?” be presented to the candidate together with the application form. This booklet provides the candidate with helpful information concerning the Cursillo Movement.
Remember to talk to God about your friend before you talk to your friend about God.
