The show is part installation, part performance and all fun.
Each participant will get 13 hours of fun training, healthy snacks, $30, and will probably end up with at least one new awesome friend.
The children are prepared for the event by a team of professionals who provide 13 hours of training in textiles, theatre and photography. The training involves children spending time with experts in theatre, photography, clothing manufacturing and design. We will encourage play and gain skills required to remake existing outfits into our own creations. The show will involve children interviewing an adult they do not know and working in small groups to remake that adult’s outfit (Scissors, Sewing Machines, and Notions! - Oh my!).
Fashion Machine 100 is produced with the assistance of Victoria’s InterCultural Association and appears at the Royal BC Museum before traveling to Cardiff Wales for an appearance at Chapter Arts with 100 local children from Cardiff.
TRAINING: Four sessions between December 2nd and 12th, with participants being divided into 1 of 4 training blocks: one evening session on weekdays and one daytime session on the weekend.
