Join us for our first simulation of the Spring 2023 semester as we delve into events leading up to the general elections in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In "Electoral Eclipse", we will explore the political, ethical, and legal ramifications of this crisis in the DRC.
In "Electoral Eclipse," the general elections in the Democratic Republic of the Congo arrive in the shadow of violence in the country's East. Internal displacement and food insecurity, among other humanitarian challenges, are on the rise. The international community seeks to reconcile their differences and address colonial legacies in the DRC in order to assist the country in its time of transition. Will they work together to ease this humanitarian crisis, or will political tensions reach a new high?
"Electoral Eclipse" will take place on Saturday, February, 2023, from 11:00 AM EST to 5:00 PM EST. This simulation will be held in-person at GWU's Funger Hall, COVID permitting.
