Mindset, Grit, and Determination: Keys to Success for Music Teachers and Students of All Needs – By Paul Young
Grit is a broad term for:
social emotional learning
passion for learning
all of the choices
A growth mindset is a collection of traits based on the notion people are always growing and learning, and the view they adopt for themselves profoundly affects the way they lead their life.
The acronym ACEs represents a longitudinal study of childhood trauma
Students with a growth mindset
need little coaching
readily accept challenges and criticism
meet minimum standards
do only what they have to in order to get by
A growth mindset coupled with grit can give students the capacity to overcome adverse circumstances and persevere and thrive in our “less-than-perfect” world.
