Julia's Back to Normal Is Not Enough Fundraiser Form
Julia Kwon has long stood at the intersection of art and activism, but the social unrest and political turmoil that unfolded throughout the year energized her to focus her practice toward one that directly contributes to the movements she was witnessing. Julia created prints that reflect the issues she cares most about – and developed a limited series of prints to be sold in support of those causes, as tangible offerings during a time when public discourse can feel abstract.
Each 5" x 7" linocut print of Back to Normal Is Not Enough is a part of a limited edition of 25 and has been printed individually by hand throughout the pandemic in Julia's home studio. All proceeds made from this fundraiser will be donated directly to five organizations: Black Lives Matter, New Georgia Project, The Sunrise Movement, Planned Parenthood, and Swing Left's Flip the Senate campaign. Please consider buying a set of prints to help Julia raise funds for these great organization and support her artistic and activist endeavor!
** Notes on participation: Participants can share the project by posting photographs of their prints on social media platforms both as personal reminders for oneself or protest signs used out in the world! Participants can also email their photographs to
to be shared on Julia Kwon's artist website.**
More about the organizations:
Black Lives Matter was founded in 2013 in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer. Black Lives Matter's mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes.
New Georgia Project is a nonpartisan effort to register and civically engage Georgians. It is focused on registering new voters where the the New American Majority – people of color, those 18 to 29 years of age, and unmarried women – is 62% of the voting age population in Georgia, but they are only 53% of registered voters.
The Sunrise Movement is a youth movement to stop climate change and create millions of good jobs in the process. The movement is building an army of young people to make climate change an urgent priority across America, end the corrupting influence of fossil fuel executives on our politics, and elect leaders who stand up for the health and wellbeing of all people.
Planned Parenthood is a nonprofit organization that provides reproductive health care in the United States and globally. It was founded on the idea that women should have the information and care they need to live strong, healthy lives and fulfill their dreams. It delivers vital reproductive health care, sex education, and information to millions of women, men, and young people worldwide.
[Contributions to Swing Left's campaign has ended on January 5th, 2021 with the end of the Georgia Senate runoff election.] Swing Left helps you find the most impactful things you can do to help Democrats win key elections. Swing Left's Flip the Senate campaign split 100% of donations between Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff to replace Republican Senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue in the Georgia Senate runoff election that is happening until January 5th.
