Camp runs from 4pm Friday 23rd May to 3pm Tuesday 27th May.
Location: Ashen Plains, Ashen Plains Wood, Stinchcombe Hill, Dursley GL11 6AD
What happens on Camp? We gather on Friday afternoon to put up tents and get the camp organised. (Volunteers will have been on site on Thursday and Friday morning to set up the communal tents, kitchen and receive food deliveries.) You can eat your packed dinner with friends and there will be an opening circle and fire. The camp is fully catered from Saturday morning until Tuesday lunch. Everyone finds out what clan they are part of and checks to see if they are needed for making breakfast or clearing up on Saturday morning. Clans are groups of campers who join together at meal times to cook, clear up or clean up round the site. They are made up of a mix of age ranges and little ones are teamed with their parent.
Saturday is a chilled day, getting to know each other, especially the folk in your clan, and in the afternoon there are various activities on offer - crafts, singing, dance, bushcraft, tie-dye and making sweet treats are some of the things we have done in recent years. We gather round the fire in the evening for hot chocolate, songs and games.
Sunday is Wide Game day. Teams form and create costumes and chants, the Venturers and DFs busy away getting the game organised then it all kicks off in the afternoon as the teams try to figure out the challenges and quests. The day finishes with a fire once more.
On Monday we prepare and hold the grand Pea Fair - lots of home made games and challenges to take part in.
The evening is taken up with the Merry Moot - campers bring songs, sketches, jokes, gymnastic displays and dances , all cheered on by an enthusiastic audience. A camp fire rounds off the day.
Our final day is Tuesday when we all work together to make sure the campsite is dismantled and cleared away. We have lunch together and finish the camp with a closing circle.
More details and a kit list will be shared when you book.
