Be There!• In Class - You are a student first and an athlete second.• At Practice - On time, every day• In Meets - Warmed up, ready to compete• As a Teammate - Know and support your teammates, acknowledge good performances PracticesPractices will be held Monday - Friday from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. If you are in school, you are expected to be at practice that day. Excessive unexcused absences from school and/or practice will result in dismissal from the team. If you must miss practice, please contact Coach Hunter before practice. Class CreditParticipation in cross country earns .25 credit toward the Lifetime Activities requirement for graduation. Credit is earned by:a. Attending 60% of practices.b. Competing in a minimum five out of the eight meets. Lettering StandardsLettering is explained on the team website. Register My AthleteAll athletes must be registered by their parents on the website http://www.registermyathlete.com/ before they will be allowed to compete. Physicals and InsuranceStudent/athletes must provide evidence of a physical completed during this school year (2018-2019) as well as a verification of health insurance before they can practice or compete. If you do not have insurance, it may be purchased from the school for a small fee. Participation in other SportsIf you participate in club sports and want to participate in cross country, visit with Coach Hunter and make arrangements beforehand. Cross country must take priority over club sports, especially for invites and meets. Excessive absences from practices and meets will result in dismissal from the team. UniformsAs a member of the cross country team, you will be issued a meet uniform which is only to be worn at meets. Uniforms should be washed and clean when worn to the meets. At the end of the season, those who don’t turn in their uniforms/sweats will be assessed appropriate fees for their replacements. Cost of ParticipationParticipation fee is $50. This fee must be paid before competing in meets. Participation EligibilityStudent/athlete eligibility is based on good standing in your classwork according to the state academic eligibility guidelines. Student/athletes will not be allowed to participate in a meet with an unexcused absence the day of the competition. TransportationAll Student/athletes will be expected to ride the bus to and from all meets. If parents want to take the athlete home after competition, they need to contact a coach before leaving the meet. InjuriesAll injuries shall be reported to a coach before reporting to the training room. Behavior Unbecoming a Student/AthleteAll student-athletes are expected to conduct themselves with respect for themselves and others in the classroom, on the practice field, at all competitions, and at all school events. Failure to uphold good sportsmanship may lead to reprimands, including exclusion from competition.• Use of alcohol, drugs or tobacco will result in suspension and/or dismissal• Hazing/bullying will not be tolerated.• Use of profanity on the practice field or at competitions will not be tolerated.
