Dear Oklahoma Emergency Medicine Physician Colleagues,
As current President of the Oklahoma College of Emergency Physicians (OCEP) and on behalf of the OCEP Board of Directors, I wanted to send a heartfelt greetings to you all. In order to improve emergency medical care in Oklahoma and to foster collaboration and quality in our shared mission, OCEP has embarked on a multi-faceted effort to improve our ability to communicate and share information with one another. Among these efforts, a new website is under construction that will be a vast improvement and enable us to work together in a more effective manner and allow us to advocate on behalf of our professional colleagues, our patients and our profession. To these ends, we are gathering some basic information on our state’s emergency departments and, for the first time ever, will have a central database of basic demographics on Oklahoma’s ERs. This will include ED size, patient volume and basic abilities. Paula Tran and Bailey Wiggins, 4th year medical students, are working with us to help collect and organize this data in a way that will help all of Oklahoma’s ER docs. We are reaching out and asking that all ACEP and non-ACEP members please help with completing the survey below. It can be easily completed by any physician working in the ER in 5-10 minutes. We would also ask any and all members forward this survey to to hospital ED physicians they work in or in which they know a professional physician colleague. We have, thus far, had a good response from our larger EDs in Oklahoma, but are still needing completed surveys from many of our states smaller emergency departments. Thank you and I look forward meeting you and to helping improve Emergency Medicine in our great State of Oklahoma.
Respectfully,
James R. Kennedye MD, MPH, FACEP
