2026-2027 Religious School Registration
Welcome to the Temple Ohav Shalom Religious School!

Our goal is to create a community of lifelong learners and guide them in establishing their Jewish identity and their understanding of what it means to be Jewish.

What do our students learn?
Our youngest students learn all about the Jewish calendar and holidays, Torah stories, Jewish values, symbols, rituals, the history of Jews around the world, and Israel (culture and geography).  They are exposed to the Alef Bet and Hebrew prayers and blessings.  In grades 6-10 students begin to learn the history of anti-semitism and the Holocaust, as well as take a deeper looks into Jewish texts, identity and current events.

Students entering 3rd grade begin a more rigorous Biblical Hebrew curriculum, learning the Hebrew letters and vowels, decoding and reading skills.  In grades 4 - 6, the students build upon and utilize their Hebrew reading, working towards mastery of Hebrew prayers in order to prepare them not only for their B'Mitzvah, but so that they can be active participants in Shabbat and holiday worship services.

In the past, the Hebrew curriculum for students in grades 3-6 was taught separately on Tuesday evenings.  This year, we are embarking on a new set up.  The Hebrew curriculum for grades 3-6 will now be incorporated into their learning on Sunday mornings.  In addition, those students will receive a 15-minute, individual mid-week check-in every week with one of our Hebrew educators.  We believe this will allow for a more tailored and supported Hebrew learning experience for all of our students.

Prior to the 1st day of Sunday Religious School on Sunday, September 27th, families with students in grades 3-6 will receive instructions on how to sign their student(s) up for their mid-week Hebrew check-in with their assigned teacher.
