More about the workshops -6 & 7 May - Linocut Effect Screen Printing With Sanele Omari JaliThe workshop covers the basic of silk screen printing, how to prepare your design/artwork, making a positive (with elements of lino-cutting) using a reduction method, expose, and print a small edition. Reduction method - You work on a black/ inked acetate. Scratching out ink to create an image. When printed the artwork has linocut effects/ elements.
13 May - Mother’s Day Monotype Workshop and BraaiWith Minenkulu Ngoyi and Isaac ZavaleThe monotype workshop is an introduction to oil-based monotype techniques using perspex plates. Monotype is known for its painterly quality and a unique print is achieved. All participants will be able to make 3 monotypes and afterwards you can enjoy a braai in our studio courtyard and relax. For just R1200 for you and your Mom and if you want to bring your Granny, Mother – in -Law, Best Friend’s Mom, surrogate Mom or any other Moms in your life, the more Moms the merrier!
20 & 21 May - Drypoint Etching WorkshopWith Sifiso Temba and Minenkulu NgoyiParticipants will be shown how to create and print drypoint etching plates. The dry point etching technique has been used for centuries by artists as part of their practice. Through a process of drawing directly on a metal plate the same results as traditional etching is achieved with this technique.
27 & 28 May - Silkscreen on Paper With Sanele Omari Jali and Sthembiso ZwaneLearn how to screen print with master printers Sanele and Sthembiso. An introduction to silkscreen printmaking covering creating your own design on acetate, exposing onto a screen and printing an edition. Participants leave with a minimum of 5 prints on paper.
