The fifth edition of The Meeting Place Festival, themed Urban Transit: Carnival of Creatives, marks a pivotal moment in our ongoing commitment to transnational cultural dialogue. This edition examines how creativity moves across cities, cultures, and disciplines — with a focused exchange between the Caribbean and Africa.
Aligned with the thematic focus of Issue 8 of the Caribbean InTransit Arts Journal, the festival advances a deliberate bridge between scholarship, artistic practice, and public engagement.
We welcome academic, curatorial, and practice-based contributions that critically engage:
Urban transit as cultural connection, movement, and reinvention
Carnival as an artistic, intellectual, and socio-cultural logic
The transnational circulation of creative labour, knowledge, and memory
Through Panels, Presentations, Showcases, Masterclasses, and Workshops, the festival creates space for rigorous knowledge exchange, professional development, and sustainable creative ecosystem building.
Creative focus areas include Film, Fashion, Visual Arts, and Music, alongside transversal themes such as Intellectual Property, Creative Cities and Urban Planning, Content Production, and Environmental and Sustainable Tourism.
