Many Nordic companies and organisations have the knowledge, technology and know-how that will promote sustainable development and tackle climate change in developing countries. Due to the need for climate and development solution, there is also a market opportunity in those countries. However, a high risk is involved for small and medium-sized companies and organisations to expand their operations into developing markets. This event will present two challenge funds managed by the Nordic Development Fund which offer project financing for projects in developing countries, and thus help sharing the risks related to expanding to developing countries.
Nordic Climate Facility (NCF) finances innovative climate projects in a number of low income countries. Financing from NCF is allocated on a competitive basis with thematic calls for proposals arranged annually. The next NCF call with the theme 'Testing the business viability of climate solutions' will open for applications in August.
Energy and Environment Partnership for Southern and East Africa (EEP Africa) provides early stage financing, investment facilitation and business development support to innovative clean energy projects and business models in Southern and East Africa. The next EEP Africa call for proposals is planned to open on May 15.
