Share Your Opinion About the Trefort School Street!

The Municipality of Józsefváros aims to ensure a more liveable environment for all, and provide safer and healthier living conditions for residents and school attendance for students. On April 24 Józsefváros Municipal Council adopted the Józsefváros School Street Program.

In front of ELTE Trefort Ágoston High School, Trefort utca has the potential to become Budapest's first school street. On behalf of the Municipality of Józsefváros, the staff of RÉV8 Zrt. in collaboration with the high school and based on the feedback of locals, will prepare the plans for the school street. By furnishing the public area in front of the school with simple equipment the entrance will become a car-free and safer area, air pollution will decrease, and children, students and local residents will be able to use the urban space in front the school freely.

The establishment of the school street is the first step. In 2025, the municipality will begin planning the renovation of sections of Trefort utca and the adjacent parts of Szentkirályi and Puskin utca. These plans will be developed with the participation of local stakeholders through a community planning process, incorporating lessons learned from the school street project. What works well will be retained, and what proves problematic will be reconsidered.

By filling out the questionnaire, you can learn about the details of the school street plan and, by submitting the questionnaire, you can express your opinion on the design. The municipality will decide on the implementation of the school street, based on the results of this questionnaire.

Filling in the questionnaire is anonymous and takes about 5 minutes.

The deadline for submission is Sunday, June 9, 2025, midnight.
