Volunteer Sign-Up: Bail Paying and More
Thank you for offering to post bail for a neighbor! We are a people-powered, grassroots initiative created to get people out of NYC jails and support them after release. Together, we're empowering freedom and safety within the NYC's Black and brown communities targeted for criminalization and incarceration. Over 80 percent of people caged in NYC jails are waiting for trial. Most are in jail because a judge set punitively high bail. Everyone is locked up in increasingly dangerous conditions. It is our duty to be organized to collectively free each other from state violence and offer support needed to recover from incarceration.

In-person bail poster requirements: Pick up funds from one of our organizers in advance. Go to a bail window in lower Manhattan, downtown Brooklyn, South Bronx, or Kew Gardens, Queens, generally on a weekday morning. Plan to spend 2-5 hours at or near the bail window. Look for emails from us about upcoming bail outs. Review the detailed bail paying info we'll send you. Be awesome! Show solidarity!!
