Ventura River Action Network (V-RAN) 2021-2022 Program Teacher Application
Ventura Unified School District (VUSD) in partnership with the MERITO Foundation is accepting applications from VUSD Middle School and High School Science Teachers to participate in the new V-RAN 2021-2022 program. This unique program is an adaptation of the Energy Efficiency to Mitigate Climate Change and Ocean Acidification (EECCOA) program of the MERITO Foundation for VUSD science teachers, focused on the monitoring and restoration of the Ventura River Watershed in support of the removal of the Matilija Dam, in collaborating with multiple research and conservation organizations including UC Davis Center for Community and Citizen Science.
V-RAN will provide free of charge Professional Development (PD) field training, PD webinars; science curriculum; live and virtual environmental monitoring experiences for students, Students’ project-based learning (the EECCOA Challenge); $1500 in teachers stipends and students’ cash prizes for authors of top 12-15 projects that can effectively reduce the environmental footprint of their school campus.
