Application for Board of Directors

The mission of NGLA (http://www.ngla.org/mission-vision) is to educate leaders from a variety of fraternal experiences to transform and empower their community and align actions with values.

Each member of the Board plays an integral role in furthering this mission. Our continued success depends on the personal commitment and dedication of a select group of individuals, who understand the privileges and obligations of leadership. The Association is currently accepting applications for board vacancies. Applicants must complete this form and submit a current resume to exec@ngla.org by April 17, 2017.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS
-Support and advance the Association’s mission, vision, strategic plan, and related initiatives.
-Achieve substantive progress on assigned area(s) of strategic action each year.
-Supervise committee(s) and/or workgroup(s) as requested by the Executive Director.
-Support and empower the volunteer structure and provide feedback to the Volunteer Leadership Team on the performance of volunteers where/when appropriate.
-Demonstrate an active commitment to the operations of the Association.
-Promote the Association and its programs and services.
-Maintain confidentiality of the Board of Director’s meetings, and speak for the Association only when authorized to do so.
-Board members serve a 3-year term with eligibility for reappointment. Board members may serve a maximum of 3 terms.

MEETINGS AND OTHER INVOLVEMENT
-Prepare for and participate in monthly conference calls with the Executive Director.
-Attend the NGLA Annual Conference.
-Participate in meetings of the Board of Directors (Wednesday May 31st - Thursday June 1st in Worcester, MA).
-Attend activities and events sponsored by the Association whenever possible.
