Learning and teaching in this class
This survey is about the work that you, other students and your teacher do in this class to make learning successful. In a worthwhile lesson, students are able to identify what they are supposed to learn and how they will know when they have learned it. They are required to do, say, write, make or perform something that helps them to learn, and to demonstrate the extent of that learning. They get fast feedback, and the opportunity for an improved performance at the same, or a similar, task. They have the opportunity to assess their work and measure the gap (if any) between the work they are doing and the criteria for excellent work. As always, consistent teacher practice makes it much easier for students. When the way we approach, talk about and regulate learning in the five lessons of the day follows a familiar, learnable pattern, students are better supported to grow as independent, successful learners.
