CIP holds what we call "salon events" either at a private residence or a private space in a bar/restaurant as a great method of spreading awareness of our work and creating connections to supporters. The hosts usually spring for heavy appetizers and beverages. If there are companies willing to donate/sponsor any of it we could handle the logistics of getting it there and set-up. The host or hosts invites their network so the room is full of folks we have yet to connect with and the host can share their passion for eradicating wrongful convictions and supporting criminal justice reform
We make it a content filled, inspiring evening. CIP helps coordinate and plan the event including as much or as little as the host would like. We bring event volunteers to help keep things tidy and to engage folks about the work. We can create all the collateral including the invite, manage RSVP list, etc. If there are any donations that come in from it, we’ll be able to track them and thank donors appropriately.
They usually run a few hours so to give folks an hour to arrive, mingle, etc. We then do a brief presentation about the work, let one of our freed clients share their experiences, we take questions, then wrap up with an ask. We are subtle with the ask, reminding folks that it's not all about writing a check but perhaps hosting their own event, volunteering, etc. It’s generally a great way to get folks excited about the work and hopefully to give.
*In-person salon events are on hold for now. We are happy to join a virtual happy hour or virtual lunch and learn until it is safe together again.
