2018–19 CMI features one short read-through rehearsal plus one intensive full day of rehearsals with a performance at the conclusion of the day. These rehearsals will occur on the following dates and students MUST be available for both dates to be considered for the program:1. Monday, November 19, 6pm - 7pm (for Symphony students at Good Samaritan Church in Edina) or Tuesday, November 20, 6pm - 7pm (for Philharmonic students at Shir Tikvah)2. Saturday, January 5, 8:30am - 5pm (Augsburg College in Minneapolis)
What is the process?Interested GTCYS students from Philharmonic and Symphony are invited to apply by Wednesday, September 26, and Artistic Director Mark Russell Smith will place students into ensembles based on the instrumentation of the applicants and the limited openings in the ensembles. Due to limited instrumentation, applying does not guarantee placement. After placements are announced on October 8, each student will be charged a $150 fee to participate. If selected, students must either apply for a need-based scholarship or pay the $150 fee by Monday, October 15. Music will be distributed at Symphony's rehearsal on October 15 and Philharmonic's rehearsal on October 16.
