Mid-term Impacts of COVID-19 on water and wastewater utilities
As the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic continue, the Environmental Finance Center at the UNC School of Government plans to work with a number of water and wastewater utilities across the state to track the mid-term impacts of COVID-19 on the financial health of systems. We will collect and analyze data that the utilities should be able to compile in reports not unlike the EO 124/142 monthly reports. Results from this analysis will summarize key findings to present to the North Carolina Policy Collaboratory, which disseminates expertise to state and local government officials and policy-makers. The main question we want to answer for state and local government policy-makers is what extent is the pandemic financially affecting water and wastewater utilities and their customers as conditions continue.
