Also, here's an official description: Shall be elected two weeks after spring break to facilitate a smooth transition. It is the role of the current Board Director to mentor the incoming Board Director until the end of the spring semester to ensure the transmission of knowledge; such tasks shall include: beginning to facilitate meetings after their election, joining the current Board Director in meetings with faculty, and having emails concerning The Queer Alliance & Resource Center (QARC) be redirected to the new Board Director. Must have been active and visible in the QARC space, ideally would have previously served as a representative, officer, and/or affiliate/at large, etc. Shall facilitate meetings and create the agenda for those meetings. Shall coordinate Fall and Spring Welcome Week events with the the Gender Equity Resource Center (GenEq) for the beginning of every semester. Shall serve as the contact between QARC and the community at large, including but not limited to undergraduate organizations and GenEq. Shall check in with officers as needed. Shall temporarily fill any vacant officer position until it is filled. The Board Director has no voting power; in the event of a tie, it is the role of the Board Director to facilitate a discussion to lead to a decision. The Board Director cannot suspend the constitution when the group is not functioning or lacking funding. Shall act as a mediator for internal conflict resolution, but if the Board Director is involved in any capacity, or the representatives feel the Board Director is not suited for the resolution, then an outside conflict-resolution facilitator will be brought in. Shall communicate and support organizations/spaces that are not able to send representatives to meetings due to capacity issues. Shall be a signatory for QARC.
