Elected Positions Descriptions

President:

The President shall preside at Executive Committee meetings, membership meetings and any special meetings. The President, in consultation with the elected Board, will be responsible for the development of all meetings, events and updates to the Bylaws. The President and the immediate Past President shall serve as members of the Executive Committee. The President shall be the official representation to the National Association for School-University Partnerships.

Past President:

The Immediate Past President shall serve as advisor to the President, as a Parliamentarian for board meetings, review and make recommendations for revisions to the bylaws, and orient new members of the leadership. If the past president's term as a director has ended, the individual may stay on as a non-voting advisor to fulfill the duties described.

Vice-President:

The Vice-President shall assist the President with plans and events. The Vice-President shall assume the responsibilities of the president in his/her absence or resignation. The Vice President shall succeed to the Presidency before his/her term if for any reason the President cannot fulfill the duties of that office.

Treasurer:

The Treasurer will supervise any monies paid in and out and will prepare a financial statement for presentation at General and the Annual Meeting. The Secretary/Treasurer will coordinate with the NJACTE Treasurer.

Secretary:

The Secretary shall be responsible for maintaining a list of all members, notifying the membership of special and regularly scheduled meetings, publishing minutes thereafter, and conducting the correspondence for the Affiliate.

Board of Directors:

The board of directors shall lead strategic planning, programs, and events. oversee the compliance of all bylaws and assume responsibility for orienting new officers. At Large board members will assume responsibility as committee chairs. The Board shall appoint a Nominating and Elections Committee of members whose responsibility is to prepare a slate of candidates for all vacant elective offices.

Each board of directors’ term shall be 2 years. Terms will be staggered with balanced representation from P-12 and EPPs. The directors shall serve for 2 years and may be re-elected. New board members will be announced each year.

Non-Elected Positions Descriptions

Governance Committee:

Shall be responsible for reviewing, drafting, and amending the bylaws. The bylaws committee ensures that the rules in the bylaws remain relevant, clear, and compliant with regulatory standards. They may also address issues related to governance, membership, voting procedures, or other matters that require formal rules within the organization. The committee typically recommends changes to the governing body (e.g., board of directors or membership) for approval.

Events/Conference Committee:

Shall be responsible for developing regular initiatives and events. In addition, the Committee chair will serve as the liaison for the conference.

Membership and Elections Committee:

Shall be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing strategies for increasing and maintaining membership. This committee shall solicit and vet all nominations for the elected members of board of directors and shall provide a slate to be voted on by the membership at large.

Communications Committee:

Description will be forthcoming.

Awards Committee:

Shall review nominations for any awards that have been approved for distribution by the board of directors. The awards committee shall solicit and select award recipients from the nominations, notifying the recipients and planning the ceremony portion of the annual conference where the awards will be given.

Research Committee:

Shall be responsible for reviewing matters and recommending policy pertaining to research and the dissemination of research knowledge. The committees may be formed to conduct research and/or make recommendations on a potential or planned project or change. The committee oversees working groups which examine current research on a particular topic and to identify best practices.
