Supporting Graduate Students’ Mental Health
Thursday February 15, 2024, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, Via Zoom
Dr. Adrian A. Rodriguez, Department of Human Services
This workshop explores ways faculty can support underrepresented graduate students as gatekeepers of their mental health. The roles of intersectionality, resiliency, discrimination, microaggressions, and imposter syndrome in the graduate student experience will be discussed. Attendees will develop strategies to:
1.) broach the topic of mental health with underrepresented graduate students and make effective referrals as appropriate
2.) foster supportive and empowering academic environments
3.) promote a departmental culture that prioritizes well-being and cultural responsiveness.
